World View Part 4 – Live Life in the Light of Destiny
Presenter: Rev. James Destine | Series: Worldview | Live life in the light of Destiny
Is there life after the grave?
According to the Bible and common knowledge.
Two ways:
Heaven eternal life with God in heaven
Hell Eternal separation from God
Two views:
The Atheist’s worldview
The Theist’s worldview
Atheist:
Life ends at the grave.
No one has returned from the other side of the curtain
We can’t interview those who have already died
“Absence of proof is not proof of absence”
To believe there is no life after the grave is not only faith based belief, but death faith beliefs.
Atheists cannot claim superior knowledge or information on the subject of destiny.
The theists believe life continues after the grave for all human beings.

Origin
The Pascal wager.
The atheists (by faith) believe there is no life after the grave, because no one has come back from the other side of the curtain.
We, theists, are certain that someone did come back from the other side of the curtain.
Jesus!
Not just by faith, but by scientific facts.
1 Corinthians 15:14-19
Two scientific methods to prove or disprove the reliability of something (whether it is true or not):
Observable science
Historical science
Observable science
Science that takes place in the present
I
Observed
Tested
Hypothesized
Repeated
Historical science:
Sciences in which data is provided primarily from past events and for which there is usually no direct experimental data or witnesses
Archaeology
Forensics
Geology
Resurrection of Jesus Christ
Historical science:
They have to look for evidence like
Clues
Finger prints
Eyewitness Testimonies:
Hundreds of eyewitnesses
27 books
Geology
1 Corinthians 15:3-10
The reliability of the eye-witnesses:
Are they people of character?
Can they be trusted?
Observable Science
Zero
Mark 16:1
Nonsense
Luke 24:9-11
Why didn’t they show up?
Because nobody was expecting no body
Observable science:
They saw him with their very own eyes.
John 20:19-20
John 20:24-25
John 20:26-29
Exhibit A
Myth
Exhibit B
The books that form the New Testament were not written to convince the public of Jesus’ resurrection
They were not written to be publicized
They were not written to become New York Times best sellers.
They are not even books.
Luke 1:1-4
Exhibit C
Acts 7:57-58
Observable science.
He saw him with his own two eyes
What difference does that make?
