The 4 Characteristics of a Spirit-filled Church
Acts 2:42-47
The 1st Characteristic of a Spirit-filled Church:
Its members take seriously the authority of scripture and seek to submit to it.
They are under leaders with the ability to preach and teach the Word of God.
1 Timothy 3:2
2 Timothy 2:15
Its preachers and teachers must be qualified intellectually, morally and spiritually.
1 Timothy 3:1-7
Ezra 7: 10
Its members are devoted to the scripture.
Acts 2:42
Devotion means:
loyalty
faithfulness
commitment
dedication
admiration
affection and care
Acts 2:43
They gave their devotion to the teaching and preaching of the Word of God.

The 2nd Characteristic of a Spirit-filled Church:
Its members love and care for one another
Acts 2:42
Fellowship is “koinonia”, which means “common”
Koinonia is our common participation in the life of each other both inwardly and outwardly.
Acts 2:44-46
What does it mean?
The giving and selling were voluntary – as it should be today.
A Spirit-filled Christian should have a social conscience.
The 3rd Characteristic of Spirit-filled Church:
Its members develop a healthy prayer life both corporately and individually.

A Spirit-filled church has both prayer meetings and prayer services.

The 4th Characteristic of a Spirit-filled church:
Its members are evangelistic

There are 2 very important lessons about evangelism in Acts 2:47:
A Spirit-filled church is always aware that the Lord Jesus did it Himself, not us.
A Spirit-filled church understand that evangelism must be a daily affair.
A continuous outreach into the community seeking to bring people into Christ and his community.
