Revelation 2:18-29

Son of man:

Sympathetic Man and Savior

Son of God:

Awesome God and Judge.

Eyes like a flame of fire:

He looks beneath the surface
He sees the fatal flaws

Hebrews 4:12-13

Feet like Burnished Bronze:

He is the destroyer
He tramples in Judgment

The Superficial success of Thyatira

They were a:

Busy church
Loving church
Faithful (Reliable) church
Serving church

The Deadly Flaw of the Church of Thyatira:

Toleration of false Teachers
Which led to toleration of sin
Which led to the wide practice of sin
Which led to corruption
Which led to a threat of God’s judgment and destruction

Gnosticism and Dualism

Gnosticism:

Matter is inherently evil and spirit is good.

According to Gnosticism there are two ways to deal with the flesh:

Asceticism – Treat the body harshly
Hedonism – Indulging the body

The mission of the church is to maintain the integrity of the Word of God and to maintain its purity.

1 Timothy 3:15

Compromise often Leads to Corruption

Corruption always leads to God’s Judgment

God is patient, not blind!

Revelation 2:21

Don’t abuse God’s patience.
